I come to Port Macquarie for work about 4-6x a year and have stayed here several times - I enjoy staying here (even though I’m working) and find the rooms are always immaculate, pleasantly decorated, beds are comfortable and the views are definitely magic. I’ve stayed in numerous rooms and appreciate the free secure parking. The staff are also exceptionally helpful. They’re a real asset to the Mantra brand. I find the location very convenient.

My wife & I are in our 70s. Stayed at Mantra Observatory Port Macquarie. We received a phone call about insufficient funds on our credit card after booking in. The hotel held a supplementary card with sufficient funds to cover accommodation. We were told by phone we had to go back to our booking agent, which we did and the matter was rectified quite quickly. However, what the staff didn’t tell us was they cancelled our security cards to gain entry into our room. We thought this very deceitful as this made us feel like common criminals trying to scam the system. Given the supplementary card they held as deposit has a balance of $5000, we felt terrible. Very disappointed in the staff at reception.

The staff were kind and friendly when checking in. That is all I can say about good. We were in room 605-1 and the entry was very interesting and unexpected. The key was to open first door which slam shut and use key again to enter own room. Whoever was in room next to us was in and out throughout the night. Doors continued to be slammed shut and almost impossible to sleep all night. It also did not help that the bed was uncomfortable. We were told throughout the day by many people that we looked very tired. We did have a second night reserved to stay but chose to leave. We were nice and turned in key to let staff know that we were leaving. They offered a different room but "no, Thank you." Not sure when we have a plan for another trip back to Australia but will remember not to stay at hotel again.

One of the most comfortable beds and amazing pillows. I travel a fair bit for work and that's the one thing I'm fussy on. The pillows remind me of the hilton pillows. I've also had the most amazing view for the week. Poet Macquarie never disappoints when I visit
