a week agoPlace is a little old and rundown, but clean. Limited facilities although there is a little cafe downstairs that serves Thai food and the usual breakfast stuff like ham& cheese croissants, banana cake, etc. There is also a paid laundry. However the location is great as it is right opposite Hyde Park, cross the park to great shopping. Museum train station is like 3 minutes walk away. The hotel offers a great view of Sydney CBD as well. Reasonable rates for a Sydney hotel

a month agoAir-conditioner barely works. TV is really small and old. It didn't even have HD channels. I spoke to reception about TV and they said "its just what ever is in the room". They said they would send someone to look at AC. Cannot cool to below 25 degrees during the day which was the outside temperature. They did swap our room for another which was much better. The rooms are a good size but the presentation in the first room was really poor. At $400 per night I wouldn't stay here again. I have never given a bad accommodation review so this is a first.

a month agoThis is one of, if not the worst hotel I have been to in Sydney. It is barely a step above a hostel. The hotel is tired and in desperate need of a refresh. Our room smelled pretty bad the whole time, and looked like it hadn't been maintained in a while. In all fairness, the location is great, our room had a great view across Hyde Park and it is very close to a museum station. The rooftop is also fairly nice with a pool, spa and basic gym.

a week agoI checked in to my room and there was hair all over the shower / bath The amenities (shampoo, shower gel etc) were half empty if not completely empty. Cleaners very lazy. Putrid. Air condition controls don’t work properly. Very old rooms. - I spoke to hotel staff regarding cleanliness of room and all that was offered was a 10% refund ($27) So I called up hotel first business trading day - and spoke with hotel manager, First off wrongly accused me of ‘being rude to his staff, and ‘blocking the driveway with my car’ Mind you, he then went on to reference room 1204 (I was 405) so basically he was reading out a complaint made by his staff about a guest that wasn’t me. Didn’t apologise. Then went on to make excuses for his cleaning staff when I pressed him about them being lazy - and quoted ‘it was a once off mistake’ and ‘everybody makes mistakes’ Further mentioned “if I’m not happy with the 10% refund speak with Agoda and I will action a further refund” I spoke with Agoda. They placed me on hold and after 5 minutes or so the agent tells me the hotel manager has denied all claims of a further refund. Essentially making me out to be a liar. I have stayed at Oaks many times before and has been great. It’s a shame they have under qualified staff working at Oaks Hyde Park, Sydney.

2 months agoRoom was ok and spacious enough. .Hallways filthy and needed a paint. Entrance stank of cheap air freshener. One of the two lifts was broken for half the time we stayed and as a result getting in and out was slow. Great location in Hyde park.
