Oaks Melbourne South Yarra Suites

Not a bad place, but possibly not the best choice for business travel. Large rooms mostly overlooking the train station. Quite clean and well equipped. However the noise level is okay with closed windows only as trains are constantly honking on station entry/exit. Biggest issue was wifi - I could not get reliable and fast internet working in my room, despite talking to the reception desk on multiple occasions. Possibly other rooms are closer to the router, but the best I got was 1-1.5 Mbit/s, which isn't even enough for a youtube video on lowest resolution and certainly not enough for work. Also the 'top speed' was only in the kitchen area (closer to the hallway) but not in the living area where I had frequent drop outs. 'Gym access' turned out the be a number of access cards to a neighbouring gym that were all in use by long-term guests. I was unable to get a card on two occasions; however I have to say staff made an effort to retrieve a card for me and even called me up the next day when something became available. My partner and our friends stayed in two separate rooms here for several days while visiting Melbourne. The staff were incredibly supportive and friendly and the accommodations were some of the best we experienced while in Australia. The apartment style worked well for us and we had everything we needed for the duration of our visit. The location is also ideal with so many things nearby (transit station, stores, restaurants, etc.). Overall, an easy 5 stars!

Nothing special about this place. Not in the main tourist part of the city, but the neighborhood was nice with plenty of services. Room was full-service with a small kitchen and laundry including detergent. It was comfortable and quiet and provided a good night's sleep. Staff was excellent and helpful.

Absolutely hands down fantastic service all around. Staff was out of this world supreme. Management was so.accomodating! Can't see myself going anywhere else! Thanks guys for making this a great trip!

Aarun the manager was very accommodating if there was anything I ever needed. All other staff were lovely as well. Unfortunately I had a terrible view out if my room. But as it was just me and I wasnt in my room for the majority of time it was ok. But next I will request a st view or a view of something other than the brick wall. It's in a great location with lots of great restaurants around within walking distance. The amenities were great. It had everything in my room to cook meals with which was really convenient.
