a month agoStaff were super helpful, they went above and beyond to help us and ensure we had a great stay. The Oaks Calypso is an older style resort but has been kept up to date. The donut style pool was very inviting and had a little water slide for the kids with plenty of seating and shade for the ones that wish to just laze by the pool. The beach is only about 60m or so from the back gate and an amazing walk either on the path next to or on the beach. There is a plethora of places to eat from within walking distance ranging from a good old pub feed to fish and chips, Chinese, Indian and Italian. Not to forget about the onsite cafe!

3 weeks agoStayed with family 13-20/10 in double room units. Pool & landscape was excellent notwithstanding the great location with the beach across the road & restaurants/shops at your front door. Unfortunately the kitchen/bathrooms in both units are in need of upgrades given their condition & age. One example was a cracked hot plate identified in one unit (reported). The price of the accommodation is deserving of these upgrades.

a month agoLovely location with lots of restaurants and shops close by. The apartment was nice, but furnishings need upgrades and the hotel is a little dated. It was clean and comfortable for our few days of stay.

4 months agoI was very disappointed with my recent stay at Oaks Gold Coast Calypso Plaza Suites. The hotel is in a great location, close to the beach and shops, but the overall cleanliness and condition of the rooms was poor. On the first night of our stay, my wife sat down in a dining chair holding our 4 month old daughter and it broke, causing her to fall and injure her tail bone (luckily our daughter wasn't injured). The staff's only comment was, they were sorry, don't have anyone on site to fix this and that we will not be charged for the damage 'WE' caused to the apartment. I found a second chair that was loose and would have also broken if we had sat on it. Many of the in-room facilities were old, worn and in poor condition. The general cleanliness of the room was also poor. The bathroom was dirty with mould growing on the tiles and shower screen door, with visible crack in the wall and very worn fittings. Overall I would not recommend Oaks Gold Coast Calypso Plaza Suites. The hotel is in a great location, but the cleanliness and condition of the rooms are poor and outdated. The staff's lack of concern for our safety was most worrying.

4 months agoExcellent location! This is not a 4-star resort, at least not in the same class as other 4 star hotels. But this is certainly at least 3-star! It is comfortable and clean. There’s quite a lot of noise leaking from the halls into the room. Can hear guests down the hall entering and leaving their rooms at all hours of the night, which is unusual for hotels in this range. The rooms are a bit older but well kept.
