    We recently spent three nights at this hotel just two weeks ago, and it was an unforgettable experience. Despite our short stay, the warmth and hospitality of the staff made us feel like we were part of the family. During our time there, we made sure to visit the pool bar, and we were blown away by the quality of the cocktails. It was the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring the area. What made it even more special was the exceptional service provided by the Latina girls working at the bar. Despite their busy schedule, they took the time to chat with us and ensure that we had everything we needed. Looking back, our stay at this hotel was the highlight of our trip. The combination of excellent service, delicious cocktails, and a welcoming atmosphere made it an experience we won't soon forget. We're already planning our next visit and can't wait to be back! We would like to send our greetings and blessings to the entire hotel team, especially to the Latina girls at the pool bar. Your warmth and attention made our stay exceptional.     Definitely worth paying for the upgrade to a studio for the extra living space, kitchen and balcony. Only down sides were tiny TV (it may have been the only room available when we upgraded on arrival) there were no cleaning products in the kitchen, just one tea towel, no clothes, scourers etc to clean dishes and wipe surfaces. Pools were lovely, but bar only open until 6pm. Included breakfast was good for continental but wouldn't pay $25 if it was not included In room rate. When we got back from dinner on my sons birthday we asked if we could have a couple of games of pool as the room normally closes at 9pm and there were other people already playing. The receptionist was happy to give us an extra hour as we had already spend at least $50 over the last couple of days. The "night manager" introduced himself and stated that he was in charge all night so we must behave, reminded me of Manuel when he was left in charge of faulty towers. When we were returning to our room past reception I stopped to thank him so he could lock up. Stood there for 10min on the phone while it rang behind reception because he had forgotten to divert the phone. Came out eventually with a mouth full of food complaining about the previous staff leaving him too much work. Never a good look slagging off workmates to guests, and roll-over and night audit are not rocket science, with limited guest interaction. Then he got upset that I wanted to purchase a drink to take back to my room because "he was trying to close!" The 24hr reception? No people skills and definitely not the "peopleology" that Accor used to pride themselves on. Other than that a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

    The location is superb. Underground parking is a bonus. Loved the Lagoon pool, especially Luisa, she makes the best cocktails. I think her employer should give her a pay rise & pay for her to come to New Zealand to have a vacation.

    We stayed at Mantra Portsea for 10 days. We found the service to be professional, friendly and helpful. The pool with the bar is fantastic, we loved spending time near the pool. On the negative side, we were unhappy with the general cleanliness of rooms. We changed rooms on arrival as the floor was dirty and had lots of dead bugs on the blinds. While our new room was much cleaner, the rooms could use a facelift as they look old and worn. There were stains on all our sheets, towels, pillows and couches. Appliances were very old and worn, the iron and toaster especially (toaster was full of old crumbs). Also balcony could use a good hose down. General maintenance needed as our string on the blind was not attached to the wall and sometimes would come off the track when we pulled it, our towel rack in the bathroom was also broken and shower tap leaked.

    Having booked this through Luxury Escapes, we had the expectation of the resort living up to LE’s usually high standard and we were bitterly disappointed. We were promised a ‘Superior Room’, which was tiny and faced the back corner of the pool area directly behind the Lagoon Bar completely obscuring any view of the pool. The blinds in the room were torn and failed to block out the the bright lighting which was on all night. The air-conditioning had a disgusting musty smell, leaked water the toilet filled and emptied every twenty minutes. Add the pile of bagged washing that we had to walk past every day to get to our room, the poor excuse for a “Fitness Centre” and no daily housekeeping, this is far below the 4 stars promised. The only praise I can give it for the staff who were friendly, attentive, genuinely helpful and warm. In hindsight, we should have asked for a refund on check-in and sought other accommodation for our stay.
