Great location, only a 15min walk to shops and very close to the beach. Rooms were clean but average. No daily room service is provided, I would suggest a larger bin for guests. Bathroom amenities were great. I was in a B room without a veranda & I found the A room veranda looked straight into the room which I found very uncomfortable. For privacy there was only a roller blind so it needed to be all the way down with no light, or have it up & risk being exposed to next door looking straight in. Service at front desk & pool bar were always friendly & helpful. There is no option for a hot cooked breakfast only continental available. No restaurant. It was ok. They need new toasters, was appalled how old & dodgy they were, kept tripping the metre. Pool was nice & swim up bar great. Happy hour for drinks at the lagoon bar were still quite expensive, I was expecting half price cocktails but they were only $4 cheaper. Enjoyed my stay at the Mantra. Not sure I’d book there again.

Great welcome easy check in. Needs lift to upper.levels as luggage was heavy. That was a struggle getting to our room. Room was clean, good bed, spacious too. Pools were nice. Swim up bar was inviting. Good service from the 2 guys behind the bar. Parking was simple. Location was good. A bit of a walk into town but was safe to do so and nice.

Our family stayed here (2 adults, 2 kids) and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Rooms were clean, staff friendly and great pools with the main lagoon pool containing a swim up bar. I do have 2 cons I would like to point out hence the 4 star review. The buffet breakfast was not particularly great especially at $25 a head. The options were limited with either cereal, toast/bread, a couple of yoghurts and 2 types of deli meat. Being a tropical area I would have expected more fresh fruit such as coconut and pineapple and perhaps more hot food options like bacon, eggs, sausages etc. There were only 2 gluten free options being bread (which wasn't great) and corn flakes. The non dairy milks also appeared to be curdled which would suggest they were out of date. The 2nd con was that the swim up bar had no gluten free food options, not even a pizza. It would be pretty easy to have 1 dedicated frier to even make gluten free fries without the risk of cross contamination from other foods. Other than that, they hotel was really nice and we would stay again but wouldn't opt for the breakfast package unless it is significantly improved.

Close enough to town you can walk in but there is also a shuttle bus. The hotel room are on the smaller size so good for a short trip, would recommend a larger room for longer days. The pool is great although on the cooler side during dry season months. Pool bar has a excellent selection of drinks but I'd stay away from their special cocktails. They were below average. Service was great and staff are very friendly and happy to assist.

The Mantra Portsea is in a great location. It’s a beautiful 10 minute walk from the shop and restaurant strip. Beach access is very close. 800m beach walk to the surf lifesaving patrolled area and stinger nets. The Mantra Portsea itself, is family friendly with basic rooms. It has a nice balcony, BUT….. it is very dirty…. The walls and doors in our room are greasy and marked. The blinds have dead bugs squashed into them when pulled down. Cobwebs on the roof also. We’ve been here for 11 days and 10 nights and they didn’t change the linen, they just re-made the beds once. They did replace our towels twice on request. The floors and stairs in the common areas are black with dirt. Not once did I see someone mop. I saw a dead gecko in the same spot for 3 days. I saw dirty coffee cups and cocktail cups sitting in the same spot for days. The pool is dated but nice. Not heated and the floor is broken in parts. The cocktails are great and they have free pool toys for the kids. Our breakfast was included and it was nice but I wouldn’t pay $25 for it. Overall it is a great location. It’s a dirty hotel that is 3 stars at best, but it didn’t ruin our holiday because Port Douglas is beautiful.
