2 months agoWe have stayed there before because it was close to the aged facility where mum was living this was on the spur of the moment as my Mum was very ill and sadly passed away. The staff at reception were brilliant as we had to modify our booking several times and this wasn't an issue. All the staff were kind and compassionate during this difficult time , the food was fantastic as always and great value. I think other establishments could learn a great deal from the staff here as their customer service is 5 star thank you for looking after my wife and I.

4 months agoI’m in the room at the moment lying in the hard bed! (Typical motel bed!) I booked a deluxe king room … for one person! The photos all show one bed yet my room has a king plus a single bed! They just seem to have thrown me anywhere! There was no need for a second bed to be in here! It presents nice enough and I bought some snacks with me however have only now noticed that the fridge is so stuck inside the cupboard that the door hasn’t been able to close! So all my food $65 worth … will be spoiled! I had a shower which was good but also had a bath after a long day. The bath is very shallow, I would’ve preferred a spa and I’m not too sure what the difference between “standard king room” and “deluxe king room means?” I don’t think they do either! Upon closing the door to the bathroom there is a very obvious dirty used face-washer on the back of the door! Kinda “yuk” and easily spotted had the cleaners done their job properly! Unfortunately, being on a harness racing track, literally!!! You do hear the races, commentators and people all talking over the loud speakers until late. There is no outside area unless you go through the entrance which closes at 8pm! They do have main doors open though around 10 metres from the motel guest entrance … that are apparently open all night??? The bistro is great! Very popular with the locals and the meals are lovely but staff are busy but aren’t real friendly accept for the one short haired well dressed older lady taking orders for meals at the counter. She was nice. The bouncer at the only door opening to the track area was absolutely useless being there! He was flicking through the information booklet whilst he was meant to be doing … whatever bouncers do I suppose! Not a lot! He looked bored pacing up and down the floor yet had the occasional moment of excitement opening the door for the kids! Overall, not too happy with my room being changed from the one king bed I expected which was meant to be a “deluxe” room … to a king plus single bed - obviously not so deluxe! The bed would probably be rated as one of the hardest motel beds I’ve slept in! Why do motels do this? No one likes a hard bed! Just stop it!!! Anyway, the location is good, close to everything. Heater works (fridge doesn’t) and poor attention to detail by the cleaners! I can’t believe no one yet has complained about the fridge not closing?

4 months agoLives up the the mantra name. For those who like horse racing this is a really nice venue. For everyone else it's a hotel and your typical pub.

9 months agoThe hotel rooms are very spacious and clean. The king sized bed was very comfortable. I didn't get a chance to use the big bath as there wasn't enough time; maybe next visit.
