Beautiful location, good facilities but the room and bathroom in the first room need a little touch up. We stayed for 2 nights in a family 2 bedroom dual key, the other bedroom has a comfy bed but the other room with a bigger bed and the sofa bed it wasn’t comfy we couldn’t sleep well. It’s a lovely hotel but need a little bit improvement.

What could be a great hotel wasnt quite. It's a bit tired. And could be really nice with some maintenance and styling. Breakfast was fine and that room was the best in the hotel. Outdoors was good offering many activities and was well maintained. Our bathroom had loose tiles which were not fixed (but reception said they would.) And our friends room was never serviced over the 3 days.... even after bringing it to their attention.

Everything was fine until the day of checkout (May 3, 2024). At 7:15 am, the receptionist on duty (whom I'd prefer not to name) displayed very rude and ill-mannered behavior, both in her words and body language. Despite our patience and calm demeanor, my colleague and I were met with hostility when we attempted to address the issue of not receiving a receipt for the breakfast we had the previous day, despite being assured that we would receive it via email within 10-15 minutes. Her hostile demeanor was extremely unpleasant and significantly impacted our trip back to Melbourne. While it wouldn't be fair to give the hotel a low rating solely because of her behavior, her attitude towards us certainly influenced our rating.

Warning! There's a scam website called Mantralorne.com.au this is an American site and I think I've been charged in USD. I did get a room but it was a cheaper option. 4 stars for the real Mantra team though, they were very helpful and gave me the room I booked. This isn't a brand new hotel guys so don't expect shiny but it's comfortable and between the town centre and beach so a great location with good grounds.

Overall I would give this hotel 2 stars because in my opinion the room is the most important part of the experience and the room in the heritage building was dreadful - unclean, blood on the curtains and smelly. So bad that we actually had to move and I would say this whole moving experience was very good and the manager Sam was extremely accommodating and apologetic for everything. Lastly, we had breakfast included in our rate and this was also another very poor experience with packet hash browns and off fruit being served.
