Mantra Ettalong Beach

Booked a pool & ocean view 1 bedroom via Luxury Escapes. Staff were great and my sister loved the complimentary iced tea in reception each day. We got room service one night from Club Diggers below and it was beautiful. Pool is open 7am-9am each day. Obviously noise does travel up, but was only people enjoying themselves so didn't bother us. Couldn't hear a thing when balcony door closed.

Great Rooms with very comfortable king size bed. I didn't like that you cannot get a refund if your travel plans change. I believe you must pay for what you use, but I did not like that you must Forfeit what you have paid for but do not use. Proximity to the beach, ferry, club, and shops was great.

Points for improvement Rooms are clean, spacious but could make it better with dryer in both rooms, more milk etc. Main bathroom didn't have a powerpoint. Overall, very good for the price charged. Reception staff, 2 out 3 lacked warmth, smile and friendliness.

Save yourself the trouble and stay somewhere else. The pictures looked nothing like the room, in fact we were transported back to the 90s with shaggy stained carpet that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. The furniture was dirty, white stains all over the sofa and lounge chairs and markings on the ceiling in the bedroom. The bed was not sleepable. We had paid for a king bed, so naturally two singles forced together. One bed was taller than the other and made it uncomfortable for my husband and I. The smaller bed kept rolling and bumping against the other bed. You could feel the springs through the sheets and we couldn't sleep. I called reception to ask if we could possibly switch rooms or if there was anything they could do. They informed us that we had paid for a room with a view and the only other room left was over the car park, all beds were the same so it was unlikely it would change and they could offer a mattress topper. When I explained this wasn't the standard of room we expected and we considering going home, we were told we couldn't get our money back even for the second night and that each room/ bed was inspected by house keeping and nothing was flagged for that room. Poor service, poor quality and disappointed customers. Would not recommend.

A beautiful room coupled with a stunning view (3 star on location to be explained). We visited for an Anniversary and the Mantra did not disappoint. The staff were welcoming and even left us a block of choc and an anniversary card. Very nice touch. The hotel is let down by a lack of available dining. All the resturants of any standing are booked well in advance and you are left with what can only be described as "the scraps". Do yourself a favour, book in advance for both accomodation and all dining preferences as what is left WILL disappoint.
