Incredibly happy with our stay at Mantra Amphora. The room we have is incredibly clean, with a great view. It is a little out-dated but that's okay, it was expected. The price comparison to some stays locally is highly competitive. We would return. Great spot close to all restaurants and the beach.

We initially planned to stay at the Peppers beach club resort but thought we'd save a little money due to only staying 2 nights in Palm Cove. I'm not one to usually air these things out, however, to claim 4 stars and allow such levels of filth is honestly disguisting and appalling quite frankly, thankfully it was only for a short stay. Firstly, the positives, the lady at the front desk was lovely and the pool had plenty of lounges to lay on and the accommodation itself is in a good location on the main strip of Palm Cove.. No there isn't a gym, breakfast or most of the amenities you'd associate with 4 star accommodation but that's fine as this was only to be a quick 2 nights before we head up to Port douglas for a week. Upon stepping into our room a stench of mildew and mould entered our nostrils and made my stomach turn, it clearly appeared upon just staring up at the outdated split system installed in front of the bed this was the culprit. As you can see by my attached photo the mould formed is what the cause of this is, I didn't even bother to open the unit to see the filter as I wanted to keep my breakfast in my stomach. Just looking around the room there was mould and what appears to be blood on the curtains. The shower had mould formed in the grout as did the bathroom fan. The walls throughout the room were covered in filthy hand marks and scuffs all over. The framed paintings/photos were even mouldy, you can see this pretty clearly in my attached photos, in fact I could have attached countless more photos but this is just the main points to give a feel for what's to expect. We also had to request additional "clean towels" as one of the towels provided for drying our body after bathing was dirty and even both of the replacement towels were dirty with 1 to a lesser extent so we had to bite the bullet on that. Also, no house keeping which in our case wasn't such an issue but considering the state of the room, a few pumps of windex probably wouldn't get it done. Quite frankly the cleanliness is appalling and I could not fathom how this accommodation (If it could be called such as accommodating is the last thing it felt like) received 4.2 guest stars on Google reviews but please do not allow your families and children to be subject to this and allow them to breathe in such filth. It is an OH&S risk and if it wasn't for the short stay I'd have asked for full refund and spent the extra money to stay at peppers again but the room quality is on par with a ran down regional motel which is barely clinging on to life.. I strongly feel anyone planning to stay here reconsider and look at this review as a true indication of what's in store for you if you commit to your stay at Mantra Amphora in Palm Cove.

Great access to everything. Room very comfortable suggest a seat in the room to avoid constantly sitting on the bed. Was made aware of lack of lifts thus was able to secure ground floor. Very good position in complex. Staff extremely helpful. Would stay again.

Great location to stay. Only a short distance from Cairns. Centrally located to restaurants, cafes and local pubs in Palm Cove. Room was very spacious and had a very big pool with a spa for the whole family to enjoy. The only thing to consider is that there are no lifts to use for apartments, only stairs. This may be an issue if you have a fully packed heavy suitcase.

We arrived at approx 630pm, and couldn't find the reception. After getting instructions via a phone call, still could not find it. The reception is up a side street and down another street. Parking is good though once we managed to check in. The other issue I experienced is that your room could be on any floor from the ground to the 4th floor. There are no lift or any other alternative than climbing the stairs There never was any mention of the lack of lifts. If you've got knee or hip issues ask for a ground floor apartment. I found the reception most unhelpful and was basically told I was the only person having trouble finding the reception, yesh sure sounds like the British post office debacle all over again.
